Letter From Recruitment Chair
Dear Potential New Member,
On behalf of all of the sisters here at FIU’s Theta Gamma chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity, I would like to thank you for showing interest in our sisterhood! I am so excited that you are interested in learning more about formal sorority recruitment. It’s an experience unlike any other, providing young women with an opportunity to network, gain more life experiences, and become a better version of yourself every day.
As we enter college, we may find ourselves wanting “THE college experience,” filled with the best years of our lives. Becoming a Phi Mu has taught me that it is possible to succeed academically, give back to my community, and be a part of something bigger than myself all while enjoying the friendships and connections I make along the way. It’s an experience that cannot be replicated and I’ll cherish it for the rest of my life.
Although sometimes it can be intimidating to have such high expectations, there’s no need to settle. Going through formal sorority recruitment can help give you all of this by complimenting all of your expectations with experiences you can apply to the rest of your life. Finding your home away from home is a big step towards reaching your full potential and becoming the best woman you can be. Phi Mu has given me endless opportunities to grow as a leader, become a better friend, and truly find myself as an individual, with the help of my sisters encouraging me every step along the way.
I highly encourage anyone thinking about going through recruitment to take the plunge and sign up. Experiencing Greek life first hand can be one of the most rewarding experiences throughout your undergraduate career. My biggest piece of advice to you during recruitment is to remember how you feel walking into each room. Go where you feel most authentically yourself and hold onto that feeling for the rest of your life!
I invite you to consider us this semester, and I sincerely look forward to meeting you! I’m always happy to answer any questions you might have.
